On 2 December, Captain Paul Watson turned 75, and our Year 6 learners marked the occasion in the most meaningful way: by turning admiration into action.
This year, our classes were proudly named after environmentalists who have dedicated their lives to protecting the planet. Year 6 chose Captain Paul Watson and spent time studying his legacy, reflecting on what it means to stand up for the natural world—especially our oceans. Inspired by his work, students wrote heartfelt birthday letters and launched a campaign of their own, proving that young people can be powerful agents of change.
As part of their initiative, Year 6 organised a bake sale that raised €320 for the Captain Paul Watson Foundation, supporting ongoing efforts to defend marine life. From protecting krill to safeguarding whales, our students learned that caring for the ocean starts with everyday choices—and that small acts, when shared, can create real momentum.
We were especially honoured that the Foundation shared our students’ video on Facebook. Thank you for recognising and inspiring our young guardians of the sea. Your example continues to ripple outward—just like the waves our learners are ready to make.
