Secondary Students Visit Fundación MONA to Learn About Primate Rescue and Conservation

Where the learning adventure begins

Our Secondary School students (IGCSE) recently visited Fundación MONA, taking learning beyond the classroom to explore first-hand how rescue centres protect endangered primates and promote responsible conservation.

During the visit, students discovered the realities behind wildlife trafficking and illegal ownership, and how MONA works to rescue, rehabilitate and provide lifelong care for primates that cannot return to the wild. They also learned about the Foundation’s broader mission: raising awareness, supporting research and encouraging respectful, ethical relationships with animals and their habitats.

The experience sparked thoughtful questions and meaningful reflection, helping students connect science, ethics and global citizenship. It was an inspiring reminder that conservation is not only about protecting species, but also about understanding the human choices that affect them—and the actions we can take to make a positive difference.
